Prepare and start an individual competition

The buttons quoted here currently use Norwegian text in this part of RIVL. They are written as they appear.

Gå til klargjøring opens preparation. It does not start the session timer. A separate ready screen appears before the countdown.

Before preparation

Open the competition in the RIVL app using the account you registered with. Check your class, exercise order, equipment requirements and opening time. See Sign up for a competition.

These steps cover individual attempts. Teams and companion controls have other entries and requirements; see Team competitions. This guide does not explain pairing a companion phone.

From preparation to start

1. Tap Gå til klargjøring while the competition is open. The app opens your class setup.
2. Read Sikkerhet og ansvar and confirm only statements that are true for you. Complete Pre-flight sjekkliste if the organiser has supplied one. Depending on the setup, confirmations can include a companion and validation.
3. Tap Gå til konkurranse. The app tells you if a checkbox is missing. Once confirmed, you reach the ready screen; the session timer has still not started.
4. Tap Start konkurranse when ready. This starts the countdown. The session timer begins when the countdown ends and the first exercise opens.
5. Mark a finished exercise with Hold inne — Fullfør øvelse. See Timing, rest and interruptions.

Companion: recommendation or requirement

If the competition only recommends a companion, you confirm that you have read the recommendation:

I have read the recommendation to have a partner/spotter present who can assist and manage timing. I can start alone.

You can then start alone. Permission to use a companion does not make one mandatory.

If the competition requires a companion, the confirmation is:

I confirm that a partner/spotter is physically present and can assist and manage timing.

The partner/spotter must then be physically present and able to assist. Do not check the box if this is not true.

The companion confirmation does not replace the other safety and validation requirements. It does not connect a companion phone to the session either.

Support can explain the confirmations but cannot assess your medical fitness to compete. Do not tick a statement just to continue if it is not true.

If you cannot continue

If start is missing or locked, see Locked start and the competition window. To practise without an official result, see Run the competition as training.

Reaching the finish alone does not confirm an official result. Follow Finishing and submitting and check the save message.

App and web

On getrivl.app you can view the competition and register. Preparation, countdown and result recording described here happen in the app.

If the flow is missing, contact support with the competition, class, phone platform, app version, current screen and exact error. Your own enrollment and availability can then be investigated without guessing the cause.
